Masterplanning, Design and Content Development

Metaphor worked with the Olympic Movement over five years to rethink the Olympic Museum and Park. We came up with a new Vision, which we translated into a masterplan for the park and a schematic design for the new museum.

The aim is to attract a new generation of visitors and to express the ideals and brand of the Olympic movement. The Museum’s collections abound in film, audio and photography. We designed interpretation that is rich in film – on screen, projected, and interactive – manipulated by hands, wands etc. We also re-curated and redesigned the Park, with a ceremonial stair that takes visitors from the lakeside to the Museum’s front door.

The new vision was delivered by Metaphor, Chris Mather Associates, Centre Screen and Paragon. The Museum re-opened in December 2013 and has already seen a huge increase in visitor numbers.
